If you're asking yourself the questions; "What are the key differences between ITIL version 2 and version 3?" "How does the new version affect my ITIL implementation?" "Do we need to upgrade to ITIL version 3?" Then read on
What are the key differences between the two versions?
Evolution of ITIL version 3 has been driven by the changing business and ITIL environment, moving towards a more integrated approach to business and IT. The main differences between the versions is the emphasis on the entire service lifecycle, creating greater business value by providing a better fit to customer needs and desired outcomes.
How does the new version affect my ITIL implementation?
If your organisation is in the middle of implementing version 2 then there is no need to change versions mid implementation. However, it is important to understand that the main UK examination boards will be announcing the withdrawal of version 2 qualifications. It is therefore advisable for those organisations already invested in version 2, that you book sooner rather than later to ensure your planned training takes place.
Do we need to upgrade to ITIL version 3?
Organisations who have already adopted version 2 will find it useful to proceed with the ongoing service improvements, and for those just starting their ITIL journey then ITIL version 3 is the obvious starting point.
As one of the UK's leading providers of ITIL certification courses, FGI are one of the few training providers still committed to ITIL version 2 and will be running examination courses until they are withdrawn.
If you are looking to progress to ITIL version 3, then FGI are pleased to offer the complete range of v3 courses, including the v2 - v3 Foundation and Manager's bridging courses.
Whether you are using ITIL version 2 or version 3, it's creating and maintaining value for customers through Continual Service Improvement (CSI) which is important. CSI combines principles, practices and methods to improve service quality, operational efficiency and business continuity.
