ITIL® and the elves

It was late January at the North Pole and reindeer flights were coming in thick and fast bringing the Elves back from their holidays. This was the one time of the year when most of the Elves could rest up after a frantic December leading up to the one day in every year when the present distribution service needed to be available.

PRINCE2® Re-Registration – It’s a must.

Since October 2000, an agreement to take a re-registration exam within 3 – 5 years of the original certification has been part of the initial application to become a PRINCE2 Practitioner.  Without this re-registration, someone cannot call themselves a current Registered PRINCE2 Practitioner, a term which is recognised by employers, and prospective employers, as demonstrating up-to-date knowledge in the PRINCE2 project management methodology.

The Benefits Of Agile Training

Taking part in Agile Training, much like any other project management training, aims to give project managers the ability to succeed in the planning, execution and delivery of their projects.  Agile project management in particular offers a leaner-oriented, structured approach to project management, which in turn enables organisations to respond quickly to change and prioritise their workload accordingly.

It is important for businesses to be able to respond quickly, in order to stay effective especially when you consider that the global economy has only recovered very slowly from recession.  Taking part in project management courses such as Agile or PRINCE2® Training helps project managers to understand the reasons for change so they can implement and deliver successful projects.

The Agile set of frameworks are suitable for software/systems development but can also be used to manage any kind of change within a business.  It will benefit a business by helping it to prioritise change as well as reviewing and re-planning this prioritisation.  It can also help businesses to communicate more effectively by making sure that all those involved in a project are kept updated at all times and that regular reviews with stakeholders are planned.  Basically Agile promotes a project management process that encourages stakeholder involvement, user feedback and also ensures that the project is managed effectively to achieve a definitive delivery date.

When organisations find that their customers are demanding that they deliver change faster and more effectively they will need to implement methods such as Agile project management in order to meet these demands.  As well as undertaking Agile training, organisations will need to understand the principles behind being ‘agile’ to determine whether or not this is the best approach for him to take.

Whether it is PRINCE2® or Agile that organisations decide to implement in order to manage their projects more effectively, the results should be well planned and executed projects that are delivered on time, on budget and can be easily measured and reviewed.
