Meet Anita Jivan
I have been in business for 25 years, and run my own business for the last 15. I was determined to make my working environment fun, supportive and innovative, allowing me to build a team that was knowledgeable and capable of exceeding customer’s expectations. I believe that at FGI we have that team.
Awards, such as Business Entrepreneur at the National Business Enterprise Awards, or Runner Up as Business Women of the Year are all well and good, but I don’t believe we can afford to rest on our laurels. At FGI we have a programme of continuous improvement, and incorporate feedback not only to improve existing practice, but also to develop new and innovative products.
We continue to re-invest in our staff, materials and trainers. We have the knowledge to understand our client’s needs, and be passionate about our quality. We aim to be a beacon of light in our field. |

Name: Ruth Phillips
Position: Delivery Manager and PRINCE2™ Lead Trainer
Background:
Having spent many years working for several major professional services firms, Ruth’s background lies mainly in major IT systems replacement projects for global blue-chip organisations, Central Government departments and Local Authorities, and she also has experience of service-based and construction projects. She also spent some time putting her French language skills to use in an operational role within Volvo Logistics.
Following a sabbatical, which saw her working as an underwater videographer for a Film and TV production company in the Caribbean, Ruth joined FGI to become an accredited PRINCE2™ Trainer and consultant. As an ITIL® ‘Red Badge’ holder, Ruth also provides training in IT Service Management.
Q. What do you like doing outside of work?
I am a PADI Open Water SCUBA Instructor and so holidays and long weekends see my husband and I carting large amounts of kit to various coastal locations to go diving – it’s when we realise that living in Warwick is not perhaps the most ideal location for our hobby! Also, having lived and dived in the Cayman Islands for over a year, the North Sea in January has lost some of its charm for me, so this has become a predominantly summer activity!
I also enjoy travelling (see above!), cooking and dancing salsa. I am the proud owner of a beautiful English rabbit, called Fidel.
Q. Where or when in your background did you learn the most?
At school – when I started I could barely write my name and by the time I had finished I could read in five languages – that’s some learning!
On a more ‘spiritual’ level, surviving a category 4/5 hurricane taught me a lot about nature, community, resourcefulness and compromise. Oh, and queuing!.
Q. If you could meet one famous person from history, who would it be and why?
Percy Bysshe Shelley. I think he’d be a real livewire. I’d particularly like to go sailing with him!
Q. In your time at FGI, what has been your biggest surprise?
I’m a Project Manager, I don’t ‘do’ surprises!
Q. What keeps you coming to work each day?
My evangelical passion for spreading the word of PRINCE2™ and ITIL®! On a more serious note, I have experienced first-hand the benefits that both of these Best Practice approaches can bring to an organisation, as well as the individual, and I enjoy sharing this knowledge with others. I also love getting an insight into so many different organisations in a relatively short space of time.
Q. If you had 20 seconds to tell a new client about why they should use FGI, what would you say?
Learning the theory behind ITIL® and PRINCE2™ is all well and good, but true value is only added when an organisation uses this theory. Many training organisations teach you how to pass the exams. FGI shows you how to put theory into practice and make a step change in how Project Management and IT Service Management is conducted in your organisation. (We also have a pretty impressive exam pass rate, too!) We do all of this by ensuring that our trainers have the “real-life” experience, not only of ITIL® or PRINCE2™, but also of the industry sector that you work in. For example, the project environment in a public sector organisation is very different from that in a financial services institution, and our trainers understand this and reflect it in the way they facilitate the training course. Equipping staff with new skills and knowledge is all about making an investment – FGI will give you a good return.
Q. Why are you proud to work at FGI?
Having worked for a couple of the “Big Four” professional services firms, I became disillusioned as I felt that they advised clients based on where their consultants’ strengths lay, rather than the solution that would most benefit the client. At FGI the reverse is true. We are acknowledged experts in the fields of IT Service Management and Project Management and are more than happy to give our clients the benefit of our expertise in those areas. However, as we never want to deliver a service to our clients that does not meet our high standards, we do not accept work that falls outside of the limits of our expertise. I’m proud that FGI has this integrity. |

Our vision: To deliver training the way it should be
Quite simply our aim is to provide our customers with training & consultancy - the way it should be. FGI courses are delivered by our team of experienced trainers either onsite at your premises, or at one of our dedicated training venues offering first-rate service and facilities, all at an affordable rate.
We structure our courses carefully to give your delegates the right balance of theory to get through the exam, and practical understanding to implement in the workplace. This has shown to achieve outstanding results and is reflected in our exceptional pass rates.
With FGI you can continue to work with the trainer that delivered your course to embed best practice within your organisation and overcome the operational setbacks that cannot be learnt from a handbook. From initial assessment through to continuous improvement programmes our consultancy services can save years in time and money spent developing processes and practices.
Our approach: To maximise your investment
At FGI we understand the need to maximise and account for the return on your training budget, and we offer simple ways for you to achieve this.
Our Pass guarantee scheme is the most cost effective route to certification on any of our accredited courses. If a delegate is unfortunate not to pass their exam first time around they can re-take the course without having to pay for any further training. In addition our skills protection promise safeguards your commitment – if a qualified employee leaves within 12 months of their FGI course, you can re-train their replacement at a special reduced rate.
Our service: Beyond the usual training experience
FGI has been delivering training courses for over a decade and as a result have been able to develop effective solutions that meet the needs of our customers focusing on their specific development strategies and the individual needs of their employees.
